Stack has issued a call for donations to the Red Cross to aid victims of the devastating hurricanes in Puerto Rico and Mexico.Stack, who is also mayor of largely-Hispanic Union City, called the Red Cross a “reputable organization” and said he has witnessed their “honorable” work at the local level.“As you know,” he said in a statement, “two regions recently suffered great devastation from natural disasters – Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria and Mexico from a catastrophic earthquake. Our region has many residents with both friends and family in these nations, so in addition to watching the suffering and damage on the news, many local residents were personally affected by these tragedies.“During the course of my public service, I have witnessed devastation and damage from Mother Nature, house and apartment fires and other accidents. The outpouring of support has always amazed me and warmed my heart as local residents banded together to assist each other during such difficult times.“In the cases of both Puerto Rico and Mexico, it is my opinion that we should come together and support these communities that are in need.“If you are able to donate to the victims of these tragedies, the Red Cross is a reputable organization and I have witnessed their honorable work at the local level. If you wish to donate to the Red Cross, more information may be found at or call (1-800-733-2767).“Thank you for considering another family that is in need.”last_img
