WHITTIER – A coroner’s spokesman Saturday identified Pedro Gustavo Gamboa, 40, of Whittier as the lone fatality in a crash. The car Gamboa was driving Friday hit a truck parked on the side of the northbound lanes of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway north of Beverly Boulevard. Lt. Joe Bale of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said toxicology tests had not yet been performed. The crash just before noon Friday shut down two northbound lanes of the freeway for four hours. Retired teachers’ group sets meeting WHITTIER – The California Retired Teachers Association will hold its annual installation meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Greenleaf Masonic Center, 12001 Beverly Blvd. At the meeting, officials will honor members who are over 80 years and 90 years old. Lunch will be served at noon and followed by a presentation by Rebecca Weeks, who will speak on the royal heritage of the Hawaiian Islands.
