Teachers’ Federation president Jim Iker says members voted Monday and Tuesday, and will be asked to endorse additional job action up to, and including, a strike that would shut down every public school in the province.Iker says the stronger tactics were being considered even before yesterday’s Labour Relations Board ruling went against the union and allowed the government to dock teachers’ and impose a partial lockout.Iker goes on to say if teachers walk off the job, “schools will be closed and there will be no instructions or any other activities”, the press reports.  – Advertisement -The union dropped its wage demand on Tuesday by one per cent, bringing the request into the range of 12 per cent over four years, but the employer has been offering 7.3 per cent over six years. If a full scale strike is approved, teachers must give three-days notice,  meaning the earliest date for a walkout would be Monday, June 16th.last_img
