No Premier League stars but find out who made the UEFA Team of the Year 2015 have announced their Team of the Year for 2015 as voted for by their users.It was a disappointing year for the Premier League as no players were represented in the team, with nine players coming from La Liga.There are a few surprises but Lionel Messi was present for the seventh time after being included in 70 per cent of the teams selected.However, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who created history with a record breaking 10th appearance in the UEFA Team of the Year and he is also the only player to be included in two positions (midfield and forward).Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez was the player who gained the most Twitter votes but ultimately missed out on the overall XI.Click the arrow above, right, to see the official Team of the Year. Defender – Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) – Ramos had a tough year off the field with prolonged contract discussions which led to the Spaniard threatening to join Manchester United. Defender – David Alaba (Bayern Munich) – Alaba made it three years in a row at left back having been one of only three players to be selected at the age of 21 (the other two are Messi and Ronaldo). Midfielder – Paul Pogba (Juventus) – Pogba’s year saw him become the most sought-after midfielder in the world after his performances helped Juve reach the final of the Champions League. 11 11 Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) – click the yellow arrow to see the Team of the Year – The 2014 World Cup winner made the team for a third successive time after a splendid season involving a domestic double and a Champions League semi final. 11 11 Defender – Dani Alves (Barcelona) – Another appearance in the Team of the Year for the Brazilian who won five trophies with Barcelona in 2015. Midfielder – Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) – Iniesta took over from Xavi as captain of Barcelona but has continued the tradition of winning at the Camp Nou. No midfielder has made more appearances in the team. 11 Forward – Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) – Ronaldo breaks his own record for a 10th inclusion in the side after a year that saw him score more goals than anyone else on the planet. 11 11 11 Forward – Neymar (Barcelona) – Neymar has become one of the greatest attackers in the world and is a certain future Ballon d’Or winner himself having scored more than 40 goals in 2015. Defender – Gerard Pique (Barcelona) – Pique is another member of Barcelona’s all-conquering side in 2015 despite his difficulties with fans of the Spain national side. 11 Midfielder – James Rodriguez (Real Madrid) – It is a first appearance for James despite a trophyless season as he becomes the first Colombian to be selected. 11 11 Forward – Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – Messi took 70 per cent of the vote and is also expected to take home a fifth Ballon d’Or following a remarkable year where he scored 52 goals.last_img
